CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department was involved in a short pursuit Thursday evening.

According to reports, officers attempted to stop a 2009 Suzuki dirt bike traveling along East Water Street in the city.

Officials say the rider (identified as a 16-year-old teen) fled from police at a high rate of speed.

Officers, reports say, lost sight of the dirt bike but later found it lying on the sidewalk near the intersection of North Watt Street and East Main Street.

According to the police department, officers spotted the teen. The 16-year-old ran from police and a foot chase ensued.

The teen ran down an alleyway before entering a home in the 700 block of East Main Street. Officers attempted to enter the residence when the door was slammed shut and held by an adult male on the other side.

Police, according to reports, forced their way into the residence and found the teen suspect.

The adult male inside the residence (later identified as 19-year-old Gabe Roush) was taken into custody for obstruction.

The teen complained of chest pains following the incident and was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center. He was later released into the custody of his parents and given a court date.
