FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio — A Fayette County Recovery group has issued an alert warning area residents of potential counter-fit prescription pills laced with fentanyl within the county.
According to Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, “the increased incidents of accidental overdoses have generated an alert to the community to be aware of the danger of taking illegal or non-prescribed medications.”
Law enforcement officials said fentanyl-laced counterfeit prescriptions are being shipped across the U.S. southern border and are being distributed by cartel members throughout the country.
The Sheriff went on to say, “Unfortunately, for every shoebox or backpack full of illegal drugs found at the border, a trainload is being shipped to our communities by the drug cartel.”
