ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Correction Officer at the Juvenile Detention Center on Cattail Road in Ross County was assaulted this week, according to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident, according to reports, occurred on Monday.
Authorities say the Corrections Officer was attempting to talk a female inmate into going back into her cell. Security footage showed the officer speaking with the inmate, who started walking into their cell but suddenly turned and began assaulting the Correction Officer.
The violent assault continued with the inmate repeatedly striking the officer.
Additional units from the facility arrived and took the inmate to the ground.
The Sheriff’s Office was called to the Detention Center to begin a report. Charges, according to officials, will be filed against the inmate in the Juvenile Court for the assault.
