ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Reports say deputies in Ross County waded through knee-high water in pursuit of a wanted fugitive.
On Sunday, June 5, deputies responded to Bourneville in an attempt to locate Jeffrey Gleason. The Sheriff’s Office said Gleason had outstanding warrants for his arrest and a criminal mischief complaint against him.
Gleason was spotted, deputies said, at a mobile home near North Alley and Crop Street. Once Gleason had allegedly seen deputies, he fled on foot.
The report says that Jeffrey Gleason ran across route 50, nearly being struck by passing motorists. Gleason then ran into a field and then into a creek.
Deputies pursued the fleeing fugitive through the creek. According to Deputy Jacob Riege, the water in the creek was knee-high. Deputy Reige said in his report that he and Deputy Roush attempted several times to get Gleason to stop running, but he refused.
The foot chase came to an end when Gleason reportedly fell into the water. He was able to be handcuffed and later transported to the Ross County Jail without further incident.
