CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man shot himself in the leg while pulling up his pants. That’s what he told police happened Sunday.
The Guardian was the first to report that a man was transported to Grant Hospital in Columbus after being shot in Chillicothe. According to investigators, the man says the shooting was unintentional.
The Ross County Sheriff’s Office responded to Adena Regional Medical Center after a man arrived with a gunshot wound to his leg. Officials later determined that the incident happened within the city, and the case was turned over to Chillicothe detectives.
According to the official report, the man had accidentally shot himself while attempting to pull up his pants. The man told investigators that he was “sagging his pants,” and when he went to pull them up, he inadvertently pulled the trigger.
Officers were able to find the gun inside the car that was used to take him to the hospital.
Detectives say the case remains under investigation at this time. Authorities have not released any details regarding his current condition.
