VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — Two Wellston locals who were charged with murder following a manhunt in March have officially been indicted for the crime.
August Schuetz, 34, and Shania Jones, 26, were officially indicted by the Vinton County grand jury for two counts of Aggravated Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, Aggravated Burglary, Tampering With Evidence, Gross Abuse of a Corpse, and a host of other felonies.
Both murder victims, Jori Brown, 31, McArthur and Lawerence McMichael, 29, Ashville, were found at a scene on Frazee Lane, according to officials. McMichael’s body was discovered near the front door by deputies after he was shot and the woman’s body was found a couple hours later inside the home under garbage.
Sheriff Ryan C. Cain quickly identified a prime suspect following the discovery, and soon after, a vehicle matching the description of an all-points bulletin was found by Wellston law enforcement after a multi-county search.
After the incident, rumors circulated on social media claiming that the deaths were the result of a domestic violence situation wherein the ex-boyfriend killed his former girlfriend and new love interest. However, no motives were confirmed by the Sheriff.
“Please allow time for additional information to be released rather than relying on rumors and innuendo,” stated Cain at the time.
The two face an arraignment next week.
