CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Later this summer, bluegrass will return to Chillicothe for a one-night special event featuring The Steep Canyon Rangers, Jerry Salley, Logan Halstead, and Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle.
The event will take place on August 7 at Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre, and begin at 5:30 p.m. with Logan Halstead, a West Virginia native and country musician. Following his performance will be the Chillicothe-born 2003 SESAC Country Music Songwriter of the Year Jerry Salley, a country, bluegrass, and gospel musician. The multi-award winning musician will begin his act at 6:15 p.m., telling stories about his music and performing for the crowd.
According to Event Organizer Brandon Smith, “Writing and singing in Nashville since 1982, [Salley] has written multiple hits in country, bluegrass, and gospel music and may well be the most successful songwriter to have earned equal recognition from all three genres of music.
Afterwards will be Cincinnati natives Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle, taking the stage at 7:15 p.m. Finally, closing the show at 8:30 p.m. will be The Steep Canyon Rangers. The Rangers are a GRAMMY® Award-winning sextet that has performed bluegrass together for nearly two decades, and has put together a large catalogue of unique, iconic bluegrass music.
“With [their album] ‘OUT IN THE OPEN,’ Steep Canyon Rangers affirm their place as one of the most versatile bands in contemporary American music,” stated Smith.
Available at the show will be several crafters from throughout Southern Ohio, and snacks and drinks will be for purchase the entire evening.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and tickets can be purchased for varying prices here.
