ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Fire Marshal is looking into a house fire that is being called “suspicious.” It happened on Fyffe Hallow Road on Tuesday, according to reports in Ross County.
Firefighters arrived at a house engulfed in flames and put the flames out.
Deputies said that no one was around the property and the house was listed as vacant without any electricity. Neighbors told deputies that squatters were known to stay inside the house and perhaps that was the cause of the fire. Neighbors also said they heard a couple of “pops” similar to gunshots and also heard what sounded like “someone running away” before seeing the fire and calling 9-1-1.
The State Fire Marshal confirmed to the Guardian on Friday that their office is looking into the fire to see what caused it. So far, no official cause has been ruled.
