CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Firefighters and other personnel responded to a historic building in downtown Chillicothe on Thursday.
Shortly before 1 p.m. a call came in that there was smoke inside the elevator of 14 S. Paint Street, which is more commonly known to locals as the Foulke Block.
Crews arrived on scene and found smoke on the third floor of the building, which houses numerous offices including lawyers, therapists, and the county’s juvenile court annex. All offices were evacuated.
The cause of the fire originated from the elevator’s motor, according to the fire department. The fire, itself, did not spread and smoke was being cleared by large fans.
No injuries were reported.
