ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a local juvenile who they say tried to hire a hitman online to kill his own family.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a website located in California contacted them after receiving a tip about an online submission from a young man for a murder-to-hire service. The online website told investigators that their company has helped to solve multiple crimes by reporting similar online requests.
The juvenile, according to a detailed form provided by the internet company to law enforcement officials, knew what hours the parents worked and the general locations where they and their siblings would be at a certain time. The company indicated that the juvenile said, “Just kill in anyway [sic] you can.” He also went on to say, “Just kill my mom first, she’s at her house …. just text me when you’re coming to kill them so I can get out of the apartment.”
The report provided to the Guardian said deputies arrived at a Western Avenue residence to speak with the juvenile and their parents.
Investigators said the boy first denied authoring the online request. After the juvenile was told that the IP address was linked to their home, the boy, reports say, confessed to the murder-for-hire plot. When asked why he wanted his family dead, the young man simply said, “They are mean to me.”
The boy was taken into custody at the time and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center on Cattail Road in Ross County.
The case, authorities say, remains under investigation. No further details were immediately released.
