CLINTON COUNTY, Ohio — The suspect in a shooting at the FBI Field Office in Cincinnati is dead, officials say, following a lengthy standoff with law enforcement in Clinton County.
The incident started with an attempted break-in at the FBI facility. A spokesperson with the Ohio Highway Patrol said shortly after 9 a.m., an armed suspect tried to enter the building.
The FBI stated a gun fight ensued before the suspect fled in a white Ford Crown Victoria.
The individual led troopers on a high-speed chase through multiple counties. The pursuit continued north on I-71 before coming to an end along route 73 near Wilmington. The Clinton County Emergency Management Agency issued a “shelter in place order” for homes and businesses within a one-mile radius of the scene.
The Ohio Highway Patrol confirmed during an evening press conference that the suspect, whose name has yet to be released, was killed following an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement.
No further details were released at the time, and the case remains under investigation.
