CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police have released additional information about the city’s top meter maid who was arrested after he allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend unconscious.
Gerald Logan, 55, was arrested for domestic violence last week after the mother of his child reported to police she had been hospitalized from a beating at the hands of Logan.
It all started after the woman was cooking food and was trying to co-parent the two’s young children, who were home during the beating. The adults started to fight after a tone Logan allegedly took toward the woman’s cooking.
“She alleged Logan shoved her down by her neck and began kicking her. She stated Logan kicked her in the leg and chest, where she still had bruises,” an officer wrote in his report. “I observed a bruise on her right leg and another large bruise on her right breast, which were photographed to be used as evidence. At which time, [she] stated she grabbed a knife to try and defend herself. According to [the victim], Logan grabbed a handgun and she heard him chamber a round. She stated she thought she was going to die. She stated Logan began striking her with the pistol, approximately six or seven times in the side of the head, rendering her unconscious and causing significant damage to her inner ear.”
Police wrote in their report that the woman was unconscious for an unknown amount of time before she woke up and went to the hospital.
“She stated when she woke up, she left the residence as fast as she could …. [she] stated she was bleeding profusely, for seven hours, out of her left ear. Hospital staff told her that she had a ruptured ear drum as well as other internal injuries to her ear, resulting in major hearing loss. [The victim] stated she received eleven stitches to the inside of her ear.”
Logan, who is the city’s parking enforcer, was arrested and charged with first-degree domestic violence. He was given a signature bond and was released with the conditions that he have no contact with the victim. His arraignment is set for later this month.
The status of Logan’s employment with the city could not be confirmed by the Guardian as of Thursday afternoon because emails and messages sent to Mayor Luke Feeney’s office have gone unreturned.
