WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Center for Disease Control announced a possible source of the recent E. coli outbreak affecting four states.
According to the CDC, romaine lettuce from Wendy’s restaurants in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Indiana could be the cause.
Federal investigators say many of the sick individuals ate sandwiches from the fast food chain. A woman in Vinton County recently contracted E. coli, but officials now say her case has yet to be confirmed by the CDC as related to the suspected romaine lettuce.
As a precautionary measure, Wendy’s across the region has begun removing the lettuce from their locations.
Officials say Wendy’s is cooperating with the continuing investigation.
