CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man was sent to the hospital in life-threatening condition after a drunken driver slammed into his house has died.

It happened in the 15000 block of Pleasant Valley Road in French Town just outside of Chillicothe just before 7 p.m. on Monday.

Troopers said a 2005 Cadillac CTS, driven by Jesse Garcilaso, 35, Chillicothe, was traveling on Pleasant Valley Road when he traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck two parked cars, struck a porch of a house, and then struck a fence.

Garcilaso appeared to be drunk, according to law enforcement, and failed a field sobriety test. He was initially placed under arrest but was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

On the porch of the home that was hit was Cody Jordan, 27, who had just placed his children into a nearby car. The porch collapsed and Jordan was unresponsive when medics arrived. He was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition, where he later died.

The children who were in a nearby car were not harmed, but the vehicle they were in was also hit.
