FLORIDA — Residents across the “Sunshine State” are bracing themselves as Hurricane Ian sets its sights on Florida.
According to the National Hurricane Center, as of the 7 a.m. advisory, Ian has sustained winds of 155 mph, approaching Category 5 strength.
Ian is expected to come ashore this morning near the Cape Coral area, bringing deadly storm surges, tornadoes, and destructive winds.
Taskforce 1, an Ohio Search and Rescue group, has staged in Alabama waiting for the storm’s impact. The Search and Rescue Team was active over the summer following historic flooding across Kentucky.
Hurricane Ian is also expected to affect the Buckeye State over the weekend, bringing the potential for heavy rain, and possible flash flooding on Sunday.
