NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The 90-year-old legend, according to the Associated Press, died at her residence in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Lynn has been a pillar in the country music scene for several decades. She began her career in the 1960s. She is most known for her iconic song, “Coal-Miner’s Daughter.” The song reflected her roots, growing up in rural Appalachia.
The family provided a statement to the Associated Press saying, “Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home.”
Lynn, during the course of her musical career, became one of the most accomplished female country singers of all time.
