Violet Irene “Hot Rod” Smith Taylor, 87, of Lucasville, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at SOMC Hospice.
She was born on March 17, 1935 in Buena Vista to the late Clarence and Mina Sowards Smith.
She was united in marriage to the late Cleston “Mose” Taylor.
Surviving are her children; Tim, Mark, Duane “Wood,” Belinda, Carolyn, Jeannie and Brian; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Smith; multiple nieces and nephews and many others with whom she loved and that loved her.
In addition to her husband and parents, Violet was preceded in death by two sons; Mike “Spot” Taylor and Steve Taylor; three brothers, Marvin Smith, Merlin Smith and William Smith; sister, Louise Taylor and son-in-law Mike Lute.
Violet was known as the mother of Rarden. She never turned away anyone who was in need. Her door was always open.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 16, 2023 at U.P. Cemetery in Otway with Danny Powell officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
