WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown has joined forces with Senators Jon Tester, Patty Murray, and Mark Warner to reintroduce the Build, Utilize, Invest, Learn, and Deliver (BUILD) for Veterans Act of 2023. This legislation aims to modernize and streamline Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facilities and other infrastructure projects, bolster its workforce, and save taxpayer dollars by repurposing or selling unused and vacant buildings owned by the Department.
Senator Brown, who is the longest-serving Ohioan on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, said, “We know VA needs additional resources to invest in its physical infrastructure, so veterans can receive care at their local VA facilities. The BUILD for Veterans Act will ensure VA’s strategic infrastructure plans meet veterans’ health care and benefits needs. It’s our responsibility to make sure that VA has the authority and resources to complete its mission to support our veterans.”
This is not the first time Senator Brown has advocated for veterans and their families. Last year, he worked with colleagues to pass the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022, which was recently signed into law by President Biden. The text of the BUILD for Veterans Act and a one-pager on the bill can be found on the Senate website.
