JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has assumed control of an investigation into a fatal shooting incident in Jackson County.

The officer-involved shooting took place after a standoff between law enforcement and a suspect on Jisco West Road.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene around 10:30 am on Tuesday, and with the assistance of the Ohio State Patrol (OSP), they entered the suspect’s home around 2 p.m.

The suspect was shot in the upper chest, troopers said, and was taken to a local medical center where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released the exact circumstances surrounding the incident or the suspects name.
