COLUMBUS, Ohio — Starting February 20, Ohio residents will once again have the chance to enjoy the iconic Shamrock Shake and the fan-favorite OREO Shamrock McFlurry. The return of these seasonal treats is cause for excitement, but it’s not just the flavor that has people talking.

According to a McDonald’s spokesperson, “Made with our creamy vanilla soft serve, blended with Shamrock Shake syrup and topped with a delicious, whipped topping, the Shamrock Shake quickly captured the hearts (and taste buds) of America when it was first introduced in 1970.” The spokesperson also added, “And for a twist on this delicious classic, check out the OREO Shamrock McFlurry, which first debuted in 2020 and comes blended with crushed OREO cookies.”

Both minty treats will be available at participating restaurants across Ohio while supplies last.

McDonald’s in Ohio has decided to make the return of the Shamrock Shake even more special by donating 25 cents from every Shamrock Shake sold from February 20 to March 19 to Ronald McDonald House Charities across the state. Honoring the legacy of the Shamrock Shake’s involvement in the building of the first Ronald McDonald House, these efforts aim to provide care, comfort, and support to families with sick children.

A Ronald McDonald House Charities spokesperson commented, “The four RMHC chapters in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Toledo provide care, comfort, and support to families, allowing them to heal together while their child receives medical care. Included in these efforts are the Ronald McDonald Houses which provide families with a place to stay while their child receives care at a nearby medical facility.”
