JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — Body camera footage from a deputy-involved shooting that occurred on January 31 in Jackson County has been released by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

According to reports, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call and responded to a cabin on Jisco West Road in Jackson at around 10:30 a.m.

The deputies arrived to find William Beach barricaded in a building. Negotiations with Beach went on for several hours. Authorities say that deputies then made the decision to enter the building, and Beach was shot.

The footage shows one deputy using lethal force, striking Beach in the neck area, while a second deputy was tasing him.

He was transported to Holzer Medical Center but was pronounced dead.

Several in the small community say the deputy’s actions were excessive and have called for the deputy to be fired.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations oversees the ongoing investigation.
