Donald Earl Fout, 97, of Waverly, Ohio passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at The Pavilion in Piketon, Ohio.
He was born April 14, 1925 in Dove, Ohio son of the late Raymond Fout Sr. and Golda Rhea Fout.
Donald is survived by a son, Gregory Earl Fout and wife Toni of Waverly; a grandson, Matthew Earl Fout and wife Sherry of Waverly; a granddaughter, Molly Lang and husband Brian of McConnell, Illinois; and two great grandsons, Wyatt and Wayde Fout; nephew, James E. Fields and wife Teresa of Beaver, Ohio; nieces, Karen K .Flaster and husband Arthur of Los Angeles, California; Vanessa Burkitt of Piketon; Sandy Fout of Beaver and sister-in-law, Berneta “Minnie” Fout of Waverly.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond “Shorty” Fout; a sister, L. Jane Fields and nephews, Robert W. Fout and Jonathan R. Fout.
Donald was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran serving in North Africa and Europe. He was a Life Member and Past Commander of VFW Post 9942, Beaver, Ohio and Member of American Legion Post 142 Waverly, Ohio.
He was a 1943 graduate of Beaver High School and retired from Columbus Coated Fabrics.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Reverend Ronald Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Union Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Merritt Post #142. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to the Justin R. Helton Scholarship Fund. Justin served in Afghanistan as an EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) bomb specialist with the United States Army and was killed on June 9, 2014.
