KYIV, Ukraine — Under a blanket of secrecy, U.S. President Joe Biden visited Ukraine on Monday.
According to the Associated Press, Biden took a 10-hour-long train from Poland, across the border into the war-torn nation.
The President met with Ukrainian President Zelensky and took a guided tour of Kyiv.
The trip, top White House officials said, took months to prepare for it. The Russian government said they were notified of Biden’s visit just hours before his arrival.
Air Raid sirens could be heard in the background as the President made his way to a wall dedicated to fallen Ukrainian soldiers, placing a wreath with an American Flag at the memorial.
During a press conference, the President pledged his unfettered support for Ukraine and promised to stick with them until the war ends.
Yesterday, the United States State Department announced that an additional drawdown of over $400 million worth of weapons was on its way to the region. Earlier this year, and in a major escalation of the war, President Joe Biden announced that the United States would be sending 31 Abrams Tanks to Ukraine. Putin and other top Russian officials took to state-controlled media calling the sending of American tanks to Ukraine, an “act of war.”
