CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man has been arrested in Chillicothe after being caught with a stolen car from Highland County. On February 20, while on patrol, officers noticed a white 2007 Hyundai Sonata parked in front of a home on Madison Avenue, facing the wrong direction. After checking the vehicle’s registration through LEADS, it was discovered that the car had been reported stolen.

Officers made contact with a white male subject, later identified as John Jennings, who claimed that the car belonged to him and that he would move it. When asked for the keys, Jennings retrieved them from the front left pocket of his jeans. He was then informed that the vehicle had been reported stolen and was placed into handcuffs.

Further checks on Jennings revealed that he had two active warrants from Highland County, one for unauthorized use and the other for theft. The car was towed away and Highland County was contacted to inform them of the incident.

Jennings was booked into the Ross County Jail on the two warrants, and no additional charges were filed by Chillicothe police.
