CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe police are investigating a shooting that occurred on the city’s west side on Thursday. The victim informed officers at the Ross County Law Enforcement Complex that an individual fired a gun from the driver’s side window of another vehicle while she was traveling along Plyley’s Lane, near the Walnut Hills Apartments.

The victim reported that the alleged shooter followed her, and she had to speed and run through red lights to escape. She also mentioned that the back window of her car was shot out during the incident. According to reports, the shooting, the victim said, was related to her boyfriend’s recent shooting death.

However, police officers questioned the woman’s account since she stated that the incident occurred earlier in the day, and she didn’t trust the police fully since her boyfriend’s shooting. Investigators did not locate any shell casings or bullet fragments in the vehicle or the reported shooting vicinity, but they documented the damage done to the car as part of their investigation.

Authorities stated that other individuals inside the vehicle provided similar statements supporting the victim’s claims. No arrests have been made, and the shooting remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chillicothe Police Department.
