CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Authorities are still investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred on February 25 at a motel in Circleville. The incident began when law enforcement received a call from Pamela Croston, who made suicidal threats and stated that she had a gun to her head.
Responding units were advised that Croston was threatening “suicide by cop,” and when they arrived at the Rodeway Inn on Route 23, they began attempting to locate her. Reports say that police eventually found Croston in a motel room with the curtains closed.
After several attempts to persuade Croston to drop the gun, she stepped outside with the weapon still in hand. Deputies, officials said discharged their firearms, striking Croston several times. She was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) arrived at the scene shortly after the incident occurred to conduct their investigation. Authorities recovered two firearms used by deputies, a Glock 19 and a Ruger 556 AR-15, for evidence.
As the investigation is ongoing, the identities of the deputies involved in the shooting have not been released.
