CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police officers responded to reports of a possible shooting and active burglary in the areas of East Water St and North McArthur St on Tuesday, February 28. As additional reports of a shooting were received, officers arrived at a residence on North McArthur, where the residents reported hearing someone trying to get into their home. However, officers found no evidence of forced entry or any person in their backyard. Multiple neighbors, police said, reported hearing gunshots in the immediate area of N. McArthur and E. Main St, but no victims or property damage were found.
A resident informed officers that he had found multiple shell casings in the alley next to his residence on N. McArthur Street. The man said he had collected one casing himself, which was identified as a silver CCI 9mm steel casing. Officers then located two additional silver CCI 9mm steel casings between the man’s residence and the alley, one in the flower garden and the other next to the downspout drain. The items were collected and submitted to the CPD evidence room for potential future use.
Despite canvassing the area, no further evidence or information was found regarding the shooting. One resident confirmed that his security ring-style camera did not cover the area where the casings were found, and he had no video of any altercation before the shooting. At present, there are no further leads to follow up on.
