CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A second Chillicothe nursing facility comes under fire as the family of a recently deceased resident files suit against them.
The lawsuit seeks over $1 million in damages and accuses Westmoreland, located at 230 Cherry Street, of failing to provide proper medical care and treatment to Calvary Eugene Claytor, a resident at the facility.

Claytor, 77, passed away on February 14, 2021, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Attorneys for the family claim that he suffered “severe and permanent injuries and was allowed to become ill due to the lack of proper medical treatment provided by the facility.” The family also alleges that Westmoreland also refused to turn over Claytor’s medical records to them despite repeated requests.
On Wednesday, March 1, the Guardian reported on a similar lawsuit against Signature Healthcare, another nursing facility in Chillicothe. The lawsuit against Signature Healthcare alleges negligence and wrongful death in the case of a resident who died in 2020.
Representatives for Westmoreland have not yet responded to the allegations or court filings.
