John C. “Jack” Miller, age 94 of Springfield, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon March 1, 2023.
He was born July 27, 1928 in Columbus, the son of the late Harvey H. and Florence May (Weed) Miller.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served twenty-seven years at many duty stations throughout the world. Jack retired in 1988 as a Sergeant Major. He also retired in 1985 from American National Corporation as Director of Data Processing.
He is survived by two children, Bruce (Melinda) Miller, and Carol (Craig) Carter; five grandchildren, Sarah (Bill) Creach, Matthew (Ashley) Miller, Andrew (Jenny) Miller, Jason Carter, and Jerad (Rachael) Carter; seven great grandchildren, Makenzie, Will, Mason, Avery, Eddie Ray, Ruthie and Hayley; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Virginia R. (Benedict) Miller, who passed away May 5, 2019; three sisters, Ada White, Edna Johnson and Ruth Jacobs; and two brothers, Robert P. Miller and Virgil Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Kingstree Church, 5173 S.R. 729 South, Sabina, Ohio. Burial with military honors presented by the Post 49 Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Sabina Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
