CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A local woman was cited for multiple traffic violations following an alleged hit-and-run accident. It happened yesterday in Chillicothe.
Witnesses reported that a white Nissan Altima had struck another vehicle and then fled the scene. The vehicle was later found in the parking lot of Rural King, with a flattened front passenger tire and a bent rim, consistent with the reported collision.
Reports say officers with the Chillicothe Police Department were dispatched to the scene to search for the driver who had fled. They received a description of the driver, a female, and were able to locate her behind a fence and tree line in the parking lot area of Sam’s Club.
The woman was identified as Tasha Iseton and was found to have an active warrant for her arrest. When approached by the officers, Iseton was observed to be unsteady on her feet and slurring her speech. She was also carrying a cup that emitted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
Iseton was placed under arrest for the active warrant and transported to the Ross County Jail, where she was booked for Operating a Vehicle under the Influence (OVI).
During the transport, one officer said they detected the strong odor of alcohol emanating from Iseton’s breath and person. He also said in his report that her speech was slow and slurred. Upon arrival at the jail, Iseton was advised of her Miranda Rights and voiced understanding. A search during the arrest, officials said, revealed a tied-off plastic baggie containing a white rocky substance, which was seized and sent to BCI for chemical analysis.
Authorities said that Iseton refused to perform Standard Field Sobriety Tests, claiming “I’m not taking (expletive), I didn’t do anything wrong.”
She remains in custody at the Ross County Jail.
