CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — An early morning blaze destroyed a house in Chillicothe on Tuesday.
It happened at around 5 a.m. in the 100 block of Ewing Street.
The brick house was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived on the scene. Neighbors said the house had been abandoned for many years but squatters had been living inside on-and-off.
The city had recently placed an abatement sign on the door calling for the property to be condemned, records show.
The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
