ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — New information has come to light regarding the theft of military gear at the Ohio National Guard Armory on Narrows Road in Chillicothe. Yesterday, The Guardian reported on the incident, and today the sheriff’s office has released the full police report.
According to the report, a member of the National Guard left some of her issued equipment in a locked locker at the armory before leaving for a military deployment on October 3, 2021. When she returned on March 3, 2023, she discovered that the lock had been removed and the items were missing.
The sheriff’s office has documented the incident, but the matter will need to be referred to Military Police and the service member’s commander for a Commander’s Inquiry to initiate a FLIPL. The list of missing items includes a green Army duffel, a stuff sack, knee pads, a sleeping bag, a bivy cover, chem gloves, an extreme cold weather top, a load carrier vest, and a deltoid protector.
