ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — On March 9th, 2023, emergency crews responded to a structure fire in the 9000 block of Egypt Pike in Deerfield Township.
A witness reported smelling smoke coming from the back of the residence near their washer and dryer. Reports say they called 9-1-1 and evacuated the home with others who were there at the time. One individual complained of feeling lightheaded, but EMS evaluated them and determined that their condition was not a cause for concern.
The cause of the fire is thought to be related to a recent purchase of a new washer and dryer, as lint build-up may have been a factor. Hay bales along the back of the residence also caught fire, resulting in additional damage. Experienced firefighters on the scene advised that they did not see anything suspicious or suggesting arson. The majority of the damage was to the rear of the residence and underneath the trailer.
Despite the significant damage to the home, all residents were able to evacuate safely, and authorities have ruled out any suspicious activity related to the fire.
