CHICAGO, Illinois — Buffalo Wild Wings has found itself in a legal battle over its boneless wings, as a Chicago man alleged that they are not actually wings but just chicken nuggets. The lawsuit filed by Aimen Halim claims that the boneless wings are overpriced since they are not wings. Halim is suing the restaurant and its franchiser Inspire Brands, Inc. on allegations of false and deceptive business practices, among other claims.
According to the lawsuit, Buffalo Wild Wings began selling boneless wings about 20 years ago, and they have become one of the most popular items on the menu. The complaint cites a news report stating that restaurants started selling boneless wings because of the rising costs of actual chicken wings and the reduced cost of chicken breasts.
Responding to the allegations, Buffalo Wild Wings took a sarcastic approach and confirmed that their boneless wings are indeed made of chicken breast meat, not wings. The restaurant also tweeted that their hamburgers contain no ham and their buffalo wings are 0% buffalo. The response has garnered mixed reactions from social media users.
The lawsuit continues to unfold, and it remains to be seen how it will affect Buffalo Wild Wings’ business.
