SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — A serious two-vehicle accident occurred on Thursday night, March 31st, on Route 140 near Lindeman Road in Scioto County. The Ohio Highway Patrol received a report of the crash at approximately 10:04 p.m. The accident involved a 2012 Jeep Patriot and a 2009 Toyota Corolla, which collided head-on.
According to the initial investigation, the Jeep Patriot was heading westbound on Route 140 while the Toyota Corolla was traveling in the opposite direction. The Corolla suddenly went left of center and crashed head-on into the Jeep Patriot.
The operator of the Jeep Patriot, 26-year-old Emily Begley from Wheelersburg, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. She was transported by EMS to Southern Ohio Medical Center and later transferred to Grant Medical Center.
The operator of the Toyota Corolla, 48-year-old Jason Rawlins from South Webster, also sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center. Later, he was airlifted to Grant Medical Center for further treatment.
The accident forced authorities to close the roadway for approximately an hour and a half while the crash was being investigated.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation
