HIGHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — The Highland County Humane Society is urgently seeking volunteers.
With only five spots left, the shelter is encouraging individuals who are passionate about animal welfare to join them at their upcoming orientation event.
The shelter is currently seeking volunteers for a variety of roles, including dog walkers to help improve the dogs’ walking skills and provide them with much-needed exercise outside of their kennels. They also need people to spend time with the dogs in the play yard, playing fetch, brushing, and socializing with them. For cat lovers, there is a need for cat and kitten socializers to pet and play with the cats in their designated areas.

Additionally, volunteers can help create fun and stimulating activities for the dogs and puppies while they wait for their forever homes. The shelter is also seeking individuals to assist with animal transport to and from spay and neuter appointments.
To become a volunteer at the shelter, the first step is to fill out an application on their website. The second step is to attend a volunteer orientation, which can be done by watching their events and messaging them on Facebook. Orientation attendance is mandatory for anyone who wishes to volunteer.
The upcoming orientation is on Wednesday, April 5th at 6 pm at the shelter.
