CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – A local man was reportedly attacked with a baseball bat while walking down the street on Sunday afternoon, according to the Chillicothe Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to the area of South Paint Street after receiving a call about the assault just before 3 p.m.
The victim reported that he was walking in the area of Caldwell Street when an unknown black male attacked him with a baseball bat and then grabbed a large rock. The victim believed that the assailant was trying to stone him to death.
The victim suffered a laceration to the head and made it to a nearby relative’s residence where he called for help. He was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment by medics with the Chillicothe Fire Department.
A suspect in the attack has yet to be identified. Anyone in the area of Caldwell Street with possible surveillance footage of the incident or information on the case is asked to contact the police department. The case remains under investigation.
