PIKE COUNTY, Ohio – A $500,000 grant from the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) has been awarded to the Community Action Committee of Pike County, as announced by U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH). The funding aims to support the planning and establishment of a general dentistry residency training program in the area.
“Training Health Centers are crucial in maintaining the well-being of our families,” Brown stated. “This financial contribution will enable the Community Action Committee of Pike County to provide Ohioans in Pike County with accessible, high-quality care within their community.”
The Teaching Health Center Planning and Development Program is the source of the grant, which is designed to assist in the creation and implementation of residency training programs. The planning grants contribute to the development of new programs, the creation of training curricula, the recruitment of clinical faculty, the adaptation of workflow to incorporate residents, and the acquisition of program accreditation – all necessary but resource-intensive and time-consuming tasks.
