FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio — A tragic car accident took place on Sunday afternoon, claiming the life of David Pence Jr., a 58-year-old man from Chillicothe. The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Wilmington Post is currently investigating the incident, which involved two vehicles.
According to preliminary investigations, the accident occurred when 18-year-old Jaedamae Geiger, from Zanesville, failed to stop at a stop sign while driving her 2010 Dodge Charger northbound on Jamison Road. Geiger collided with a 2010 Mazda 3 that was being driven by Pence Jr., who was traveling westbound on US 22.
After the impact, both vehicles veered off the north side of US 22. Unfortunately, Mr. Pence Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Geiger and her passenger, Amber McNutt, also 18 and from Zanesville, were both taken to Fayette Memorial for treatment.
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr. Pence Jr.,” said a spokesperson for the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Wilmington Post.
It’s worth noting that this marks the fourth fatal traffic crash in Fayette County so far this year. The investigation into this latest incident is ongoing.
