ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the possible discovery of a dug grave with human remains behind the district office for Unioto.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched to the old Unioto school on Egypt Pike after mushroom hunters said they found a possible grave.
The report states that deputies responded to the old school and were escorted to a field behind the property. The investigators say they located what appeared to be a freshly dug grave with a shovel next to it.
Detectives as well as a canine trained in detecting human remains were requested to the scene over the weekend. Upon arrival, the dog alerted its handler to the presence of possible human remains.
The sheriff’s office is being tight-lipped as no further details were released to the media. The Guardian will continue to press officials for more information and will update once it becomes available.
