SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — Law enforcement in Scioto County is searching for a man who escaped over the weekend from a community-based correctional facility.

According to the sheriff’s office, Eric Parkins, 42, escaped from the STAR Community Justice Center around 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The Ohio Highway Patrol notified the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office about the escape, which then issued a community alert. 

Parkins is described as having a tattoo behind his right ear, between the thumb and index finger on his left hand, and a 6 and 8 on his left ankle.

The patrol has not released details on how the escape happened. 

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact their local authorities.
