CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Channeling the spirit of Nancy Sinatra’s hit song “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” an individual in Chillicothe is now wanted by the police, accused of brazenly swiping a pair of boots from the local Rural King store before making a daring escape from law enforcement.
According to a police report provided by the department, officers were dispatched to the area after an off-duty deputy sheriff followed the suspect, who was driving a black Chevy truck, to the Lowes home improvement store. While en route to the location, officers were advised that the deputy was now in a foot pursuit with the suspect. At some point, the individual got back into their vehicle and fled south on Bridge Street.
Additional officers were sent to Rural King to speak with employees about the incident. One person told officers that they observed an older male walking towards the front door with a pair of boots in his hand, along with other items that had reportedly not been paid for. The employee went on to tell officers, per the report, that they and their coworkers yelled at the man to stop. That is when he took off running and jumped into an older black Chevy truck.

Investigators requested surveillance footage from both Rural King and Lowes to help aid in locating the suspect. The case remains under investigation, and anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Chillicothe Police Department.
