PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — An elderly Chillicothe man lost his life after being involved in an automobile crash along Route 138.
According to Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey, on May 9, just before 6 p.m., the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call regarding a crash on State Route 138 in the area of Dunlap Road. The caller, the sheriff said, reported that one of the vehicles was on fire.
Deputies arrived on the scene and found that a 2011 Ford Edge was traveling southbound when it went off the roadway striking a utility pole and then a culvert. The vehicle, officials said, rolled and then caught fire.
The driver, Jimmy Risner, 81, of Chillicothe, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash, authorities say, remains under investigation.
