CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department has provided additional details regarding the bomb threat incident that prompted the lockdown of Chillicothe Intermediate School on Thursday.
According to the police department’s report, the school’s resource officer received a threatening email from a student’s account. The resource officer suspected that the student’s email had been hacked and collaborated with the IT Department to investigate further. The report indicated that the resource officer believed a student who had been suspended the previous day might be the person responsible for the threatening email.
The email contained the alarming message, “Imma bomb the school after I have sex with everyone,” and the school received additional emails, as reported.
In response, a detective from the Chillicothe Police Department promptly arrived at the school to work with IT technicians in tracing the IP address of the emails. The investigation revealed that the emails originated from within the school premises, rather than an external source. As a precautionary measure, the school was placed on lockdown, and a K9 unit trained in detecting explosives was deployed to conduct a thorough search of the premises.
The police have not disclosed any specific information about the suspected individual, except that they are 12 years old.
Currently, it remains unclear whether the student has been arrested or if charges have been filed.
After a comprehensive search that yielded no evidence of any threat, the lockdown was eventually lifted, allowing normal activities to resume within the school.
