LANCASTER, Ohio — A man sustained serious injuries after being attacked by two vicious dogs in Lancaster yesterday evening.

At around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, officers were called to an unrelated incident in the 400 Block of East Walnut Street. While they were on the scene, they heard a man’s cries for help coming from an east-west alleyway at the rear of the residence.

Upon arriving at the source of the distress calls, they found the victim suffering from numerous bite wounds and injuries, reportedly inflicted by two aggressive canines. As they attempted to provide aid to the injured man, the dogs continued their aggressive behavior, charging at both the officers and concerned citizens who had gathered nearby.

With the animals showing no signs of backing down and posing an immediate threat to the officers and bystanders, an officer was forced to shoot both canines, resulting in the death of one and injuries to the other.

Emergency medical services were immediately summoned to the scene to treat the injured man. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for further treatment of his injuries.

The incident is currently under investigation, and the Lancaster Police Department is seeking additional information from the public to clarify the circumstances leading to the initial attack. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any relevant information is encouraged to contact Lancaster Police.
