ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Man flees from law enforcement after deputies received a call regarding an active burglary.
It happened on Sunday just before 7 p.m. in the area of Valley Road.
According to the report from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, while deputies were enroute to the residence, dispatchers notified them that the suspect had fled the scene in a silver Jeep Liberty. The vehicle was subsequently spotted by deputies as it was pulling into a property and then behind a barn.
That is when a man jumped out of the vehicle, fleeing on foot. Deputies, per the report, pursued the man through a cow pasture before eventually losing sight of him. A K-9 unit from the Piketon Police Department was requested to the scene to help locate the runaway fugitive.
The Sheriff’s Office impounded the man’s vehicle locating reported drug paraphernalia inside.

The man, later identified as Matthew Moore, was eventually captured by a resident who held him until deputies arrived. The deputies stated Moore continued to try and escape and was later tased.
Moore was first transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for evaluation and later to the Ross County Jail.
