PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — A high speed chase occurred in Pike County early Thursday morning.
It happened after a Waverly Police officer spotted a wanted man on route 220 at Pleasant Hill riding in a car. The officer said the wanted man, Donald Entler, had several warrants. The chase went onto Pleasant Hill Road with a woman driving the car at around 12:30 a.m.
“She’s slamming on her breaks,” the officer could be heard telling dispatchers. Each time the woman would come to a stop she would take back off, law enforcement reported. Police said that the couple was throwing “multiple items” out the window and that Entler was bent in the passenger seat “messing around.”
The chase took to route 124 into Idaho, where the woman decided she would stop just inside the small town. Deputies caught up with the officer where Entler tried to take off running, law enforcement said. They were able to capture him and take him into custody. The woman was arrested, as well.
Officers scoured the roadway and found a bag with hypodermic needles and other items along the road, which will be tested for fingerprints, according to police, which was believed to be thrown out the car’s window during the pursuit.
Entler was wanted by Pike County Sheriff for three felony counts of drug possession, as well as a failure to appear and OVI warrant out of Ross County. The female’s name was not released. Both now face charges for fleeing from the police.
