OHIO — Here comes the boom! The 180th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard is set to carry out an air defense exercise over the region today, June 7. The purpose of this exercise is to assess the wing’s response and coordination procedures in the face of a potential air threat.
Residents residing in and around Wilmington, Hillsboro, and Chillicothe areas may observe and hear fighter jets flying in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol aircraft. The Civil Air Patrol aircraft will be simulating a “Track of Interest” (TOI), representing an identified potential threat.

Ohioans are advised not to be alarmed if they witness or hear fighter jets operating in the area during the exercise, as all activities will be conducted safely and under controlled conditions.
It is important to note that the exercise’s timing is subject to change, relocation, or cancellation due to adverse weather conditions.
