ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — An ice cream shop employee called law enforcement over the weekend after allegedly being attacked with a mallet by a disgruntled customer. The alleged incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at the Dairy Hut in Bourneville.

According to the police report provided by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived on the scene and spoke with the employee regarding the attack. The employee recounted the incident, stating that the customer requested hot fudge dip, which was unavailable at the establishment. The employee said that this angered the customer, who then began beating their fists on the counter. The customer then allegedly grabbed a mallet that had been used to prop up a window and threw it, striking the employee in the chest. The customer reportedly fled the scene in a white Chevrolet.

Deputies stated in their report that they were able to view the license plate number and attempted to make contact with the vehicle’s registered owner. According to the report, the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect’s name has not been released by the sheriff’s office.
