COLUMBUS, Ohio — Girls on the Run of Central Ohio is seeking volunteer coaches to help start teams in Licking, Pickaway, and Madison counties. The program is for girls in third to eighth grade and helps them build social, emotional, and physical skills. Coaches do not need to have running experience and will be required to complete training and a background check. The season will culminate with a 5K in November.

Girls on the Run is an international nonprofit organization that empowers girls to be strong, confident, and healthy. The program uses a research-based curriculum to teach girls life skills such as goal setting, teamwork, and stress management. Girls on the Run also emphasizes the importance of physical activity and healthy eating.

Since 2008, Girls on the Run of Central Ohio has served more than 17,000 girls in Franklin, Delaware, Knox, Union, and Fairfield counties. The organization is currently seeking to expand its reach into Licking, Pickaway, and Madison counties.
The expansion into these three new counties is part of Girls on the Run of Central Ohio’s mission to provide all girls in the community with the opportunity to participate in the program. The organization believes that all girls deserve to feel strong, confident, and healthy and that Girls on the Run can help them achieve these goals.
